Benefits of Accreditation and Verification

For all people invested in the welfare of captive animals, there is shared desire to differentiate the best sanctuaries in order to determine where funds would be best invested, where the need for help is greatest, and who can be turned to in times of crisis. With accredited or verified status, organizations are recognized as part of the elite group that are providing the best practices of animal care and sustainable operations. This status especially provides:

  • Special consideration from grantmakers
  • A seal of approval for potential donors, volunteers and adopters
  • Recognition from legislators, law enforcement and government agencies
  • A sign of professionalism within the animal welfare field and media

In addition, GFAS provides a variety of resources that supports your efforts to help animals in your care. These include:

  • Educational opportunities
  • Individual mentorship
  • Standards of animal care and operations
  • Coaching to improve sustainability
  • Compliance goals to take a facility to the next level
