    Tmeline 2009 MediaGFAS hits main stream media.

    The Association of Sanctuaries (TAOS) helped push for the formation of GFAS, and disbands.

    CWAPC (now Captive Wild Animal Protection Campaign) becomes a program of GFAS .

    The GFAS Carole Noon Award for Sanctuary Excellence is established in 2009 and awarded posthumously to Dr. Carole Noon, Save the Chimps.
  • 2010

    Timeline 2010GFAS coordinates the largest sanctuary rescue in US history, with more than 800 animals! At the same time, GFAS heads the placement of 900 parrots from a cruelty seizure.

    The GFAS Carole Noon Award for Sanctuary Excellence is awarded to Jill Robinson of the Animals Asia Foundation.

    Timeline 2011By the end of 2011, GFAS has helped place more than 6,000 animals.

    Stany Nyandwi of Ngamba  Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary wins the 2011 GFAS Carole Noon Award for Sanctuary Excellence
  • 2012

    Timeline 2012 Awards118 sanctuaries/rescues are Accredited/Verified by GFAS by the end of 2012. This is a "seal of approval" that the public can count on.

    Donkey Sanctuary based in UK is awarded 2012 GFAS Carole Noon Award for Sanctuary Excellence.
  • 2012

    AG Award PhotoIn 2012, Patty Finch and GFAS are selected for a Secretary of Agriculture’s Honor Award, the highest award given out by the Secretary. "There were numerous people that played a role in the successful resolution of the WAO situation, but the part that GFAS and you played has been key." More than 300 animals were placed in this rescue.

    Timeline 2012 GFAS AccreditedGFAS has directly awarded $276,775 in grants and $76,625 in donations. GFAS has also helped to facilitate another $596,225 going to sanctuaries.
